Dear Friend of the CTBTA:
Fifteen years ago, we set out to make a difference in the lives of brain tumor patients and families in Connecticut by offering them hope and support, while creating awareness and advancing quality of care and brain tumor research. As patients, caregivers, family and friends, the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance, Inc. (“CTBTA”) was formed so that no one has to face this disease alone. As we celebrate this milestone 15-year anniversary in 2022, we are proud of our accomplishments to date, but recognize that our work must continue.
Because of you, the CTBTA has made a profound difference in the lives of brain tumor patients and their families, and are seeing advances in the treatment of this disease. Since our beginning, we have granted out nearly $1.5M towards patient outreach programs, research, program support and patient assistance funds at CT hospitals. Our impact has taken on many forms — from research identifying the molecular structure of brain tumor cells to purchasing cinema-vision goggles for pediatric MRI patients – all contributing to our primary vision: To make Connecticut a center of excellence in brain tumor care.
Together, we have formed a strong bond and are proud to highlight the hope and survivorship of two of our Directors, Jennifer Pace and Susan Lemkuil and our Executive Director, Chris Cusano. In 2022, both Jen and Susan will be sixteen-year survivors and Chris will be a fourteen-year survivor. All three individuals have an incredible story of survivorship to share, but never forgotten are Tracey Gamer-Fanning and those we have lost, all of whom left a void in our heart and soul.
Along with the aforementioned aspiration of making Connecticut a center of excellence, we strive to find the cure and we continue to ask for your help. Brain tumors remain the leading cause of cancer related death among children 0-14 years and in males aged 20-39. To commemorate our fifteenth year in 2022, we are welcoming NBT Bank as a new community partner and the presenting sponsor of the anniversary year. NBT will kick off our celebration with a $1,500 check this month and a pledge of $150 a month for the next twelve months. NBT will also work with us throughout 2022 to promote anniversary gifts. Accordingly, we are asking you to consider a tax-deductible monthly pledge of $15, which is only 50 cents per day, or you can make an impactful difference with a one-time gift of $1,500.
